A few things to know.
Is a Google Maps API key required?
Yes. Create a key in the Google Cloud Console with the Places API enabled and paste it into the Address Auto-Complete settings in RestroPress. Google's Places API is a paid service with a free monthly tier; check Google Cloud pricing for usage beyond it.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, and mobile is where it helps most. Customers type a few characters and tap a suggestion instead of filling several fields on a small keyboard, which means fewer typos and fewer abandoned checkouts.
Which address fields does it fill?
When a customer selects a suggestion, the RestroPress checkout address fields are populated automatically from Google's data for that place. Customers can still edit any field afterwards, for example to add a flat number or delivery note.
Does Google charge for the Places API?
Google bills Places API usage, but it includes a free monthly credit that covers the typical volume of a single restaurant. Set a budget alert in the Google Cloud Console so you are warned before any paid usage.
