QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A few things to know.

Do customers need to do anything to receive messages?
No. WhatsApp Notifications uses the phone number the customer typed at checkout, so there is nothing to opt in to or download. If that number is not on WhatsApp the message simply is not delivered, and your email notifications still go out as usual.
Can I customize the message for each status?
Yes. Each status, such as accepted, processing, ready, in transit and completed, has its own editable template in the admin. Placeholders fill in the order number, customer name and total so every message is specific to that order.
Can the admin notification be sent to a different number?
Yes. The admin number is a separate setting, so new-order alerts can go to the manager's phone while customers receive their updates on theirs. You can switch admin alerts off entirely and keep customer messages running, or the other way round.
Which WhatsApp account is used to send messages?
Messages are sent through Twilio's WhatsApp API from the Twilio number you enter in the settings. Register that number as a WhatsApp sender in your Twilio console (or use the Twilio sandbox while testing); the extension then uses your Account SID and auth token to send each message. Twilio's per-message WhatsApp rates apply.
