Multiple payment channels

Customers finish payment on Paystack's hosted checkout using whichever channels your Paystack account has enabled: cards, bank transfer, USSD, mobile money. The plugin does not restrict channels.

Hosted redirect checkout

Customers are redirected to Paystack and back again, so no card details ever touch your WordPress site.

Automatic order confirmation

On return the plugin verifies the transaction with Paystack's API and marks the order complete. A signed webhook does the same if the customer never comes back.

Built-in test mode

An Enable Test Mode checkbox with separate Test Secret Key and Test Public Key fields, plus an admin reminder while test mode is on.

Naira and Cedi added

Adds Nigerian Naira (NGN) and Ghanaian Cedi (GHS) to RestroPress currencies with the right symbols. Store currency must be NGN, GHS, USD or GBP.

Create a Paystack account
Sign up at paystack.com, verify your business and copy your keys from Settings > API Keys & Webhooks in the Paystack dashboard.

Add your API keys to RestroPress
Go to RestroPress > Settings > Payment Gateways > PayStack. Tick Enable Test Mode and enter the Test Secret Key and Test Public Key, or enter the Live Secret Key and Live Public Key. Set the Title and Description, enable the gateway and make sure your store currency is NGN, GHS, USD or GBP.

Set the callback and webhook URLs
Copy the Callback URL and Webhook URL shown on the same settings page into your Paystack dashboard so customers return to your site and orders confirm even on a bad connection.

Customers pay at checkout
They choose Paystack, are redirected to Paystack's page, pay by card, bank, USSD or mobile money and come back to your order confirmation.

A few things to know.

Which countries can use Paystack?

Paystack itself operates in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Rwanda and more, but this extension only lets a store charge in NGN, GHS, USD or GBP. If your RestroPress currency is anything else, checkout shows an error asking you to switch to one of those four, so the gateway is built for Nigerian and Ghanaian restaurants.

What payment methods does Paystack support?

Paystack accepts all major debit and credit cards, direct bank transfers, USSD codes for customers without a smartphone app, and mobile money wallets. The plugin does not pass a channel list, so customers see every channel enabled on your Paystack account, which depends on the country it is registered in. Payment itself happens on Paystack's hosted page.

Are there monthly fees?

No. Paystack has no setup or monthly fee; you pay a percentage on each successful transaction. Check the current rate for your country on paystack.com, and remember the RestroPress extension itself is free.

Is Paystack secure?

Yes. Paystack is PCI DSS Level 1 certified and runs its own fraud monitoring. Card details are entered on Paystack's page, never on your WordPress site, and the plugin checks the webhook signature against your secret key before touching an order. If a customer pays less than the order total, the order is marked revoked with a note instead of completed.

Can I test before going live?

Yes. Tick Enable Test Mode in the PayStack gateway settings and enter your Test Secret Key and Test Public Key. RestroPress shows an admin notice while test mode is on so you do not forget to switch back to your Live Secret Key and Live Public Key.

Can I refund from RestroPress?

No. The plugin does not call Paystack's refund API. Refund the transaction in your Paystack dashboard (the Paystack reference is saved on the RestroPress order), then change the order status to Refunded in RestroPress.
