Square Payment Gateway

Square accepts merchants in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Australia and Japan, and your Square account must be registered in a country Square supports. The extension itself adds no country or currency restriction; it charges in your RestroPress store currency. If you already use Square at the counter, the same account works for your online checkout.

In the US, online card payments are 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction; rates differ in other countries and can change, so check squareup.com for yours. There are no monthly or PCI compliance fees, and the RestroPress extension itself is free.

Yes. Each has its own checkbox and label in the Square settings and shows as a separate payment choice at checkout. Apple Pay also requires you to verify your domain with Square and only appears in Safari on Apple devices; Google Pay appears in browsers and on devices that support it.

Yes. Square only loads its secure card form on pages served over HTTPS, so your site needs an SSL certificate before the gateway will work. Most hosts include one at no cost.

Yes. The settings take two sets of credentials: Application ID and Access Token for Square's sandbox, and Application ID Live and Access Token Live for production. With RestroPress test mode switched on, the checkout loads Square's sandbox script and charges go to the sandbox, so you can place test orders with Square's test card numbers.

Not from this extension. Issue refunds in your Square dashboard; the extension stores Square's payment ID, receipt number and order ID on the RestroPress order so you can find the payment quickly, then set the order status to Refunded in RestroPress by hand. Saved cards and Square webhooks are also not part of this extension.
