Cardholder authentication runs on the hosted page as part of the TakePayments flow, so there is nothing extra to configure in RestroPress.
Signed payment requests
Every request is signed with a SHA-512 hash of the order data and your Signature Key, using the TakePayments hosted-form SDK.
Order status on return
Captured payments return the customer to your site and mark the order paid, with the TakePayments transaction ID and cross reference saved on the order. Declined or interrupted payments are recorded as failed or abandoned and the customer is sent back to checkout.
Your own label and currency
Set the Title and Description customers see at checkout and the numeric ISO Currency Code to charge in (826 for GBP by default).

Create a TakePayments account
Visit takepayments.com to sign up for an online merchant account, then collect your Merchant ID and Signature Key from TakePayments.

Add your credentials to RestroPress
Go to RestroPress, Settings, Payment Gateways, Takepayments and enter your Merchant ID, Signature Key and Currency Code (826 for GBP), plus the Title and Description shown at checkout. Use a test merchant account from TakePayments to try it first.

Accept payments at checkout
Customers are sent to the TakePayments hosted payment page, pay by card with 3D Secure where required, and return to your site where the order is marked paid.

A few things to know.
Is a TakePayments account required?
Yes. The extension connects to your own TakePayments online merchant account using the Merchant ID and Signature Key they give you. If you already take cards in your restaurant through TakePayments, ask them for online payment credentials for the same business.
Is SSL required?
Not for card entry, because card details are typed on the TakePayments hosted payment page rather than on your site. We still strongly recommend HTTPS for your whole site, since the customer is returned to your checkout and success pages after paying and expects the padlock throughout.
Is TakePayments available in my country?
TakePayments is a UK payment provider and serves businesses based in the UK. If your restaurant is elsewhere, Stripe, Square or one of the other free RestroPress gateways will be a better fit.
Are there hidden fees?
TakePayments quotes its card processing rates when you open the merchant account; check the agreement they give you. The RestroPress extension itself is free, so your only costs are the ones TakePayments agrees with you.
Does the customer leave my site to pay?
Yes, briefly. After Place Order the extension records the order as pending and auto-submits a signed form to the TakePayments hosted payment page. The customer enters their card there, completes 3D Secure if the bank asks for it, and is returned to your checkout URL. If TakePayments reports the payment as captured, the order is marked paid and the customer lands on your order confirmation page.
Is there a test mode?
There is no test checkbox in the extension. TakePayments provides test merchant credentials; enter a test Merchant ID and Signature Key in the Takepayments settings to run test transactions, then replace them with your live details.
Can I refund from RestroPress?
Not from the RestroPress order screen. Issue refunds from your TakePayments Merchant Management System. The extension stores the TakePayments transaction ID and cross reference on each order so you can find the payment.
Which currencies can I charge in?
The Currency Code setting takes a numeric ISO 4217 code and defaults to 826 (GBP). The extension sends that code to TakePayments with every payment, so set it to match the currency your TakePayments account is approved for.
